This is a cute, PG13, story. I write this with a caveat: I know there is a wide spectrum of what constitutes PG13. This references French kissing, and roving hands (without details), and tucking shirts in post kissing. It's a pretty fast read at just over 200 pages. I enjoyed the egomaniac H getting his comeuppance. I wish I had cared a little more about the H and h. It was a nice distraction; I liked Jennifer Shirk's book *Fiance by Fate* better, but I will read another of her books.

The Role of a Lifetime Jennifer Shirk 9781605041599 Books Reviews

Sandra has pieced her life back together after her divorce. Along with her sister, she started her own preschool, so she could spend more time with her four-year-old daughter. Her ex is an actor and wants nothing to do with his little girl. When Sandra's sister takes it upon herself to invite a sexy actor to do research at her school, it is all that Sandra can do, to not fall for him.

Ben is living a carefree life, but he is looking for something more, at least professionally. He is up for a role that could bring him an Oscar. But he has never really been around kids. The solution is easy enough. Spend two weeks at a preschool to learn how to talk to kids. Quickly Ben finds himself falling for the closed up Sandra, and her little girl.

The Role Of A Life Time has some good times, bad times, and lots of sweet romance. It had good writing but I do wish that it had delved into the character's lives a bit more, for instance it would have been nice for Steve, the ex, to show up even if it had been a disaster. Other than that The Role Of A Life Time was great fun to read.

Jennifer Shirk creates the perfect comical romance in The Role of A Lifetime. If your looking for a fun read you can't put down, stop right here. Witty prose dominate the text. Jennifer Shirk has a true gift for comic writing.
A sweet love story that evolves in a not so typical Hollywood fashion will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy as you fall in love with the characters and the book all at the same time. A must read romance. Take this one to the beach!
This book has everything I look for in a romance. The author has created a larger than life, yet believable hero and thrown him together with a strong yet vulnerable heroine. Sparks fly when they get together, and the reader is swept along by their story. A delightful romantic read.
This is the second book I've read by Shrink. I expected more of what I had liked in the first book of her's I had read, and to an extent I got it, but what I did not like and what accounts for some of the absence of stars in my rating was the suggestive and lewd "flirting" they did with each other at certain times in the book. For Pete's sake, they hardly knew one another more than a few days and they were in a professional setting. For that reason, I cannot call this "clean" although there was no sex. Otherwise, this would have been 3 stars--which means OK but I do not recommend it.
I really liked it.
This book has a cute premise and likeable characters. I enjoyed it, especially how the romance developed. Sandra and Ben are fun together even before they become a couple. The tension between them wasn't overdone, and it was explained and understandable. Recommend.
Sandra knows just how charming, selfish, and deceitful actors are. After all, she was married to one... She found out the hard way just how little their words mean, how little they actually want to work for a normal life, and how often they break their promises.

She has worked hard to put her failed marriage and her broken heart behind her and focus on her precious daughter and the preschool she opened. Sure, start up costs ran a little higher than she anticipated and enrollment is not quite as high as she needs them to be, but she's resolved to make things work and succeed.

She has things as under control as much as possible until Ben Capshaw enters her life. Ben Capshaw the actor!! He's invading her preschool with the intentions of researching and snagging the role that will boost his career to the next level - Hello Oscar!!!!

With Ben being the great actor he is, however, how can Sandra know if what he does and what he says are sincere or his fine tuned acting skills? Despite her reservations, Sandra finds herself falling for the beautiful specimen that is Ben Capshaw.

As for Ben - he's never met anyone quite like Sandra, who switches roles herself - going from Ice Queen to Enchanting Princess - in the blink of an eye. She's captivating, strong, beautiful, and comes with the most wonderful little girl he's ever come across. He doesn't quite understand her lack of excitement with his movie star status, and instead of turning him off, that just fuels his fire. Sandra is a challenge that he gladly accepts until his agent reminds him that ANY sort of bad publicity will ruin his chances for his well earned red carpet walk. As schooled and practiced as he is with acting, he's not quite sure he can convince himself that he'd rather continue his pursuit of the esteemed Oscar than incorporate Sandra and Hannah into his life and assume the role of husband and father, the role of a lifetime...

The Role of a Lifetime was such an enjoyable read! I found myself smiling and laughing through most of the read. I loved the characters and their down-to-earth dialogue and internal thoughts. The chemistry between Ben and Sandra was sweet and his interactions with Hannah just about had me swooning. I mean, hello - what woman with children wouldn't love to see a man leave play dough remnants in his hair as a trophy or a battle scar? How cute!!!

Would I recommend this book? Absolutely! Would I re-read it? You betcha!

Who would I recommend this read to? Anyone, male or female, who is looking for a light and sweet romantic tale. Anyone who is looking for a more reality based vs. fantasy based romance. Anyone loves reading witty and spunky verbal volleys between lead characters. Anyone who loves reading about people finding the love we all dream about and strive for. o) Ah....
