This book takes you from Kansas to Canada where Lucian starts to fall for Leigh. & his nieces & nephews try to help him because he hasn't wooed anyone for centuries. This book has sex scenes, fight scenes, a dog named Julius (which if I remember correctly I think there's a story to that name) & lots of vampires some bad but most of them good.

This was a very good book & I will continue on with reading this series.

Leigh is attacked by some rogue vampires and turned on the way home from work. She spends the bulk of the first 3 chapters out of in on drugs and IVs while turning. She winds up being cared for by Lucian a centuries old arrogant vampire and head of an extended family although rather a loner. The first 3 chapers are a little slow but not without humor as Lucian's reaction when the pilot of the company plane refuses to take Leigh unaccompanied and then what happens when Lucien finally gets to Toronto. His ridiculous costume the first time that Leigh wakes up and seems him is pretty funny as is the cell phone in the pocket incident. The humor, good characters and a couple good erotic scenes save a rather linear plot.

The author and editor are to be congratulated as there aren't the numerous editorial and consistency errors that seem to increasingly plague fiction today.

Overall a very good read recommended.

Lucian has wait thousands of years for a lifemate and found it in Leigh. Through trial and error they finally come together in their happily ever after at the end.
I like the Argeneau series because I like when authors continue building and expanding on the worlds they have created. The think the twist Sands puts on the myth of vampires is particularly interesting about the Argeneau storyline. Having the Vampires descend from an advanced race of humans is creative. The books are quick easy reads, and the characters are interesting enough to keep the pages turning. Although you don't have to read the books in order, I found that some of the stories are more clear if you do. Sands weaves previous storylines and characters into the new books, but not so much that if you missed a book you would be lost. There is always a twist of mystery in the books, which breaks it out of the boy-meets-girl-falls-in-love mold. This is not the best series in the paranormal romance realm, BUT it is entertaining because Sands takes a different perspective on the origin of vampires and how they live their lives.
I am 93% done with this book and let me say how disappointed I am with it. For one thing, waiting until 84% into the book on my before Lucian and Leah finally have sex was irritating enough but to then have at least a really good passionate and descriptive sex scene missing was ridiculous. With Lucern and Bastien's books there was passion and multiple scenes with it, and really funny dialogue. This book has been dragging. There have been some funny scenes but for the most part the chemistry or lack there of between the two characters is disappointing. I read Vincent's story before this one and even that story had better sex, and more character development in it, and I was barely hanging on to his story as well. I was really looking forward to Lucian's story but am sadly regretting purchasing it especially for the price and with grammar mistakes. There are so many of these books and they are either a hit or miss.
Atlantian refugee and head of the Argeneau family, Lucian finally finds his life mate. The beginning is hilarious as the grouchy and intimidating Immortal ends up babysitting Leigh's turning. The more he attempts to get out of it, the more trouble he gets into. All this leads to several exceptionally long intimate scenes skillfully inserted into the story . After all were talking Immortal Life Mates here. Danger is included via a few rogue vampires who like to bit people.
