"A Prisoner of Versailles" is the second of Golden Keyes Parsons' Darkness to Light novels. This novel takes place during the reign of King Louis XIV, the same king of Musketeers and the Man in the Iron Mask fame.

This is the first novel in the series that I have read. While there is backstory from "In The Shadow of the Sun King" that I missed out on, I was still able to follow the plot without any trouble.

The main character in the novel is Madeleine. She was an adolescent friend of King Louis, now grown, and is on the run from his minions with her husband and three children. Her husband is dying of consumption from being imprisoned by the King. They are Huguenots hiding out in Switzerland as the story opens. Madeleine's husband's dying wish is for her to escape with her children to the New World, as they will never be safe from Louis in Europe.

This book includes a nine question Reading Group Guide, as well as a Glossary of terms. It is light reading for an easy afternoon.

Loved this book! I read all the books in this series. Discoverd a new writer for me
Have really enjoyed reading the Darkness to Light series.
Ms. Parsons is a new writer to me. After finding the first book in this series, I tried to find the others. I was delighted when I found it on . I was not disappointed!! Great series by a wonderful writer.
This is the 2nd book in this series. It was a great read, believable and with not only biblical history but family history of the author.
This story begins where the previous book ended. There were those same wonderful characters. They endured so much but never lost their faith. It was also inspiring to witness the redemption of one of the most evil characters..if you loved the first book in this series, you will love this one.
A very satisfying tale of the consequences of religious persecution. It is so very unfortunate that mankind has persisted in trying to force one practice of worshiping onto others who prefer a different practice.
This was a great read and I cried and laughed through out the book. I enjoyed it very much. Ready for the next book in this series.
I enjoyed this 2nd of 3 books of a series by this author. If you have not read the first book, you are missing a lot of pertinent details. It gave me a better understanding of what price people paid for what they believed. We assume we are persecuted when someone, disagrees with us, but to be turned out of your home, family killed, property stolen, and locked up because you won't compromise your standards, that's persecution
